Thank you, Dr. Pavel
In recent days, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)has confirmed numerous cases of the swine flu, with no deaths or serious complications reported. Presently, there are no confirmed or suspect cases of swine flu infection in Philadelphia. Signs and symptoms of infection are typical ofinfluenza viruses. The virus is transmitted person-to-person, and the incubation period is estimated to range from 1-7 days. To Learn more please click on the provided links.
Remember, if your child is sick, showing flu like symptoms, or running a temperature please keep them home and seek the necessary medical attention.
Because of the closure of schools this year due to inclement weather, the district is adding two additional days to the current schoolcalendar. The addition of Monday, June 22nd and Tuesday, June 23rd will be made to make up for lost instructional time for students. Tuesday, May 19th,will remain as a professional development day with only staff inattendance. The last day for students will therefore be Tuesday, June 23rd.
Byadding these days for instruction, the academic calendar for thisschool year will meet the Pennsylvania State requirement of 180 days ofinstruction for students.
Wednesday, June 24th will now be a professional development day for staff and June 25th will be a organizational day as well as the last day for staff.
Please make a note of the changes and adjust your schedules.
Thank you in advance.
